It's one thing to see the drawings of roots, but to see root excavations while still in ground is something else!

American biologist and prairie ecologist, John Ernest Weaver (1884 – 1966), published a series of findings about relationship between plant species, their climates and the specific soils they inhabited. A PDF copy of this book has been shared by the US Library of Congress and can be viewed in the link below.
