"In February 2022, approximately 13 months ago, I received a phone call from a good friend in Haiti. After the usual "what is going on and the how-are-you questions," Rose explained that a friend of her father had a shipment of used medical equipment (in good condition) that he was ready to send to them. The plan was to open a small clinic near Port-au-Prince, in an area with no access to medical care.
"During the ten years prior, this generous donor and Pastor Bataille had worked together to lift several small communities from the devastating effects of the 2010 earthquake. Now, another devastating situation of epic proportions had happened.
"In August 2021, in the middle of the COVID pandemic, Tony Iannelli (this generous donor) had passed away from COVID complications. His wife had passed away the month after with the same complications. Their donation to these Haitian communities included over $100,000 worth of medical equipment that was being stored at a clinic in Oklahoma.
"Rose asked if our organization could help her father.
"My immediate response was 'yes, why not, how hard can that be?'"
